Re-introducing Kasia's Plate 🍽 For those who are Re-introducing Kasia's Plate 🍽

For those who are new here, hello and welcome. To those of you who have been here from the beginning or for a while, thank you for following along and supporting me 🫶

I am a gluten free and dairy free blogger based in Oxford, UK but my heart also craves wanderlust 🌍

For a few years now, I had been debating adding more travel in to my page. I originally started my blog in February 2020, to encompass gluten free food whilst travelling, but I had to adapt almost immediately. Travel has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, which comes along with a love for travel photography. I already share places to eat gluten free and dairy free around the world, so I thought why not add in some sights and things to do, too? I know that I am always looking up not just places to eat, but what to see and do in a country. This includes uncovering hidden gems and experiencing the local culture. This spans everything from cookery classes and guided walking tours to day trips and coffee shop hopping ✈️🧁

I hope that my page continues to inspire you to explore new places whilst also being free from. I am here to prove that dietary needs do not need to hold you back from doing what you love 🌻

How could I go to Ljubljana and not make at least one stop at Dežela Okusov. Despite pouring down with rain, we walked the 20 minutes from our apartment to this gluten free haven for lunchtime.

If you have an eagle eye, you may spot that there are 3 mains here. We could not just settle on two, so shared a gnocchi for starter. It was absolutely outstanding. My favourite dish of the day. Pillowy soft gnocchi, which felt homemade, in a rich ragu. This dish just has to make it to your order.

For main, I opted for the tuna steak that was sat on a buckwheat porridge throne, and side of grilled vegetables, whilst my partner had the BBQ rack of ribs. The tuna melted in the mouth, complimented by the citrus notes and tangy wasabi base. They told me that this is one of their most popular dishes. It certainly is unique. I would never of thought of putting these flavours together, but it worked magnificently.

I did have my eye on the desserts, particularly as the blueberry cake was dairy free. However, my belly was close to popping at this point, so I decided to bow out. Next time! I certainly had an envious look of the filled dessert dumplings on the table next to mine 🫐

The setting felt calm yet efficient, and we were not rushed. You can really take your time here and nestle away inside the cosy building (especially on a rainy day) 🏡

When I tell you this was the BEST cinnamon roll I have ever had, I am not joking. It was soft, fluffy, and devilishly moreish. A subtle sweetness with notes of cinnamon throughout. There was no free from compromise here. I can see why they fly off the shelves (yes, I also ended up buying 4 to myself) 🌀

This place is somewhere I will remember for a long time, if not forever. I visited 3 times in 3 days, because the quality and choice was impeccable. Everything from pastries to cakes, and even gelato. I was quite jealous of the cream and pastry-layered Bled cakes. If only I could have tucked into one of those. They looked dreamy.

I recommend visiting when they open for the best selection, particularly on a weekend. The staff told me they often get a morning influx, with a lot of the pastries sold out by early-mid afternoon. They often have a few cake options left, mind you.

It is a small cafe, with only 3 intimate tables. However, we were lucky to be seated both times with ease. It has a calm atmosphere, with very friendly staff. They were keen to give us tips for the "local things to do". It is worth the visit, even just for a chat 🫶

*Note that not all images are dairy free, as some patisserie was also eaten by my partner. However, there was a large selection of goods that were suitable for me
Hood Burger, Ljubljana 🇸🇮 Who can tell my "go to" Hood Burger, Ljubljana 🇸🇮

Who can tell my "go to" savoury comfort food is a juicy burger and chips? 🍔

If you are looking for somewhere quick and simple to grab a bite to eat, then Hood Burger is your spot. They have a separate fryer and prep for gluten free orders, and can swap the cheese to be dairy free. I ended up eating here twice on my trip, as it was centrally located whilst exploring the sights 🏡

You will want to come with an empty stomach, as these are filling. I recommend doubling up the patty, as these are super succulent. The brioche bun adds to the pazazz, too. Who knew fast food could be this good? 💫
Taquería “Unomás”, Ljubljana 🇸🇮📍 Our first stop i Taquería “Unomás”, Ljubljana 🇸🇮📍

Our first stop in the Slovenian capital was this cute little taco house. It is a fast food option, perfect for when you have a full day of exploring and want something quick and easy.

The staff here were beyond accommodating for dietary needs. They changed their gloves without being asked, and explained that the items with gluten were separated in the kitchen to prevent cross contact. You couldn't ask for more. They were so patient and walked me through the menu.

As for the food.. well these are some of the best tacos I've ever had. So fresh and moreish. I opted for 2 beef (Carne Asada) and 2 pork (Al Pastor), adding some guacamole onto one portion. The Al Pastor took top spot for me overall. It's pairing with pineapple and onions was unmatched. I wish I had visited again. This spot certainly made a lasting impression 🌮

You'll find Taquería Unomás situated in the heart of the city. Only a short walk from the main attractions and river ⛪️
Restavracija Union, Bled 🇸🇮 If you want to try tr Restavracija Union, Bled 🇸🇮

If you want to try traditional Balkan dishes and Slovenian cuisine, then this is your spot. I stumbled upon this place by coincidence, and it turned out to be one of my most favourite meals on the trip. It felt "up market", but without the high price tag, and the food felt homey. Everything felt full of love. The Google reviews also reflect this. It is one of the highest rated places in the area.

This was a 10-minute walk from the main lakeside, situated nearer the main town of Bled and the bus stops back to Ljubljana. There are an abundance of tables both inside and out, meaning there was a spot to perch for the evening. We did not book a table, as we arrived quite late in the shoulder season, but I can imagine this place can get busy.

Both my partner and I opted to try some of the Balkan classics. I had the Union sausage, whilst he had a pork fillet with potatoes and gravy. The waiters were knowledgeable on allergens and were able to advise what was suitable (note that allergens are not listed directly on the menu, but there were plenty of options). The sausages and bean casserole were both homemade, which added to the "Grandma's cooking" feel. The dish had a warming element to it, which was ideal for the crisp nighttime dining. It was also packed with flavour from the seasoning. To accompany, we ordered a side of grilled vegetables. These were cooked to perfection, with an al dente bite.

Shout out to the waiters who let me try speaking some basic phrases in Slovenian, too. They were so patient and welcoming. I also appreciated the fresh salad to start, as I could not have the complimentary bread. If I were in the area again, I would not hesitate to visit 🫶
Art Cafe Bar, Bled 📍🇸🇮 I had this place on my lis Art Cafe Bar, Bled 📍🇸🇮

I had this place on my list after seeing reviews from Find Me Gluten Free. The menu has allergens written on each of the options, making it easy to navigate the gluten free meals. The staff appeared knowledgeable and helpful regarding allergens, too, including understanding of separate preparation areas.

I fancied more of a comfort food this day, so I opted for the cornflake crusted chicken and chips. This certainly was a plentiful portion. It may not have been a traditional Slovenian dish, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I even ended up sharing some, as I was struggling to finish it all.

For dessert, my partner and I chose a plant-based coconut yoghurt with candied walnuts, bananas, and honey. It really hit the sweet spot, particularly the sugar coating on the nuts. I could have eaten a bag of these 🥣

This place was on the premium side, but it was nice to try somewhere new in Bled. It is popular and was only a short walk from the town/lake, so it is in an ideal location. The personal highlight for me was their cocktail list, of which I tried a couple of their spritzes 🍸

Gluten free (coeliac safe) options 🌾

During September, I had the pleasure of taking my first trip to Slovenia. It is a country that I fell in love with straight away. The views were breathtaking, and the eateries matched. I can already see myself returning to discover more of Slovenia.

This was the first spot that I tried, moments after arriving at Lake Bled from the airport. We still had our bags in toe. This restaurant is situated only a stones throw away from the lakeside, with a lovely view down from part of the outside eating area.

I had seen many great reviews about here, so I knew that it was going to be one I made sure to visit. When we perched and settled down, another couple sat near us were ecstatic to say how amazing the food is and how they had been twice on their visit already.

They offer a range of plant-based savouries, with a couple of sweet desserts. The gluten free options are clearly marked on the menu for ease. I was able to share the Public burger with a gluten free bun, some chickpea patties and salad, and a side of potato wedges.

When I tell you that those potato wedges were the best that I have ever had, I am not exaggerating. I would not stop talking about them the whole trip. How did something like the humble potato turn into this magic? I would not skip this dish. Especially when paired with the sauces.

My favourite of the mains was the Public burger. The quality was spot on. A light, fluffy, gluten free bun sandwiching a patty of buckwheat, mushrooms, potato, and leek. It was moreish and filling. I did not want to share this in the end 🍔🍄

We were quite full from lunch, so we decided to skip dessert at first. However, after a short afternoon of wandering, we found ourselves drawn back for the two cakes. The chocolate torte was the gluten free option here, which had a soft, nutty texture to it. I will admit that I personally preferred the main dishes overall 🍫

This place was value for money with equally brilliant staff. I cannot recommend this place enough. If I was in the area longer, I certainly would have eaten here again 🫶
The Beefy Boys has landed on Oxford's Westgate roo The Beefy Boys has landed on Oxford's Westgate rooftop 🍔 ad

Last night, I was lucky to attend their launch event. Canapés, tipples, and milkshakes were flowing. The whole evening had a bustling atmosphere, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My friend mentioned how much she enjoyed the chicken portions. In regard to the cocktails, the standout one for me was the Key Lime Pie, whilst my friend adored the smokey Margarita. I will certainly be making my way through the menu over time 🍸

I was unable to eat the canapés or try the milkshakes* due to dietary requirements. Instead, I was given my own personalised, full-sized burger (photo 2). This was the one that "started it all": The O.G. Boy. It has two double smash patties with bacon, gherkins, and a unique sauce. The gluten free bun was a beautiful brioche, which complimented the meaty filing. I can see why The Beefy Boys have won so many awards, including the 2nd best burger in the world 🥈

I am already excited to return and give a full review. Before I even left the event, my friend and I were discussing what we would try next. For me, it would be the PB&J burger with a side of millionaires fries 🥜🍄

For those who do not eat meat, they also have a selection of vegetarian and vegan options (although these are not necessarily gluten free, so do check the allergen matrix). On this note, I will say how impressed I am with their allergen knowledge (and understanding of coeliac disease). You will find specific descriptions of the item in the dish where the allergen is present so that it can be adapted 👏

*They did inform me that they have gluten free options for the milkshakes. There will also be a vegan mix coming along in the future, so watch this space.
Six By Nico x Space 👾🪐 The moment this menu launc Six By Nico x Space 👾🪐

The moment this menu launched, I knew I just had to go. Every course blew my mind. I feel that the Oxford branch has really developed their allergen knowledge, with the menu reflecting this. Only one of my courses ended up being different from my partner's gluten and dairy-containing dishes. I was very happy.

I opted for the 10 course "secret" menu with aperatif deal. I also added on two of the cocktails from the pairing. The course 2 tipple, Preservation, that had a thyme based vodka really stood out for me. It was unbelievable. Both my partner and I said we would love to see this as a permanent menu addition, showcasing sweet, botanical notes.

💚 First contact: a shot of cucumber, lime, and salt that comes on a "floating orbital". It's a really unique touch to set the scene.

🌶 Mare Nectaris & Celestal Ember: These two courses come together. A melon gazpacho (cold soup) with a japalapeño kick. This compliments the crisp N'duja arancini.

🦪 Zero Gravity Oyster: An imaginative bite (or two) of salmon and apple in an edible oyster shell.

🥔 Last Harvest: Egg, with roast chicken crumb and Cacio e Pepe Espuma. Note: the GF option has two eggs instead of the potato.

🐽 Biopack 3-06: My favourite course. A ham hockey & chicken terrine with 12 garnishes. A different flavour with every bite.

🖤 Black Hole: Put on your mask and headphones to send your tastebuds into overdrive. A cuttlefish risotto with crispy pork fat crumb.

🥩 Solar Flare: Flat iron steak and Ox parcel with an array of colours. The steak was cooked to perfection, melting in the mouth.

🇰🇷 Nebular: An impressive gluten free Korean BBQ bao. This was my first ever bao bun, and it set the bar high. The pulled beef filling was moreish.

🌏 Goodbye Earth: My dessert was an adaptation. A vegan cream pudding with a brulee topping and fruit frills, focusing on oranges.

Overall, this menu was one of the most interactive they have presented so far. I thoroughly enjoyed everything and have been raving about it since. The service was particularly spot on, too.

I cannot wait to see what menu is next. I will certainly be back soon 🚀
Sixes Social Cricket, Oxford 📍🏏 ad Fancy a differ Sixes Social Cricket, Oxford 📍🏏 ad

Fancy a different kind of group night out that is interactive and energetic? Then you should add Sixes to your bucket list. They have various locations across the UK, with the Oxford one being local to me.

I went with a group of girl friends on this visit for some post-work drinks, food, and fun. It was relatively quiet on the weeknight, meaning that we didn't have to wait long for our food or time in the net. We started the night with a round of cocktails, ranging from their classics to the summer menu. I opted for the Eton Mess, which reminded me a lot of the dessert. I actually ordered a 2nd as I enjoyed it that much. It was a sweet berry base, with a blow torched dairy free cream topping and followed by a helping of meringue pieces. This is ideal for those with a sweet tooth 🍸

For dinner, the gluten free section of the menu comprises pizza, loaded nachos, and some sides, such as fries. Hopefully, they will expand the gluten free options to the burgers in the future, too. I felt I had the best deal with a large BBQ chicken pizza (cooked on its own tray) with a fluffy base and lots of topping. I ended up sharing some because I couldn't finish it all 🍕

My favourite part of the night was picking up the cricket bat and showing everyone how bad I am at hand-eye coordination. There are various games to play inside the nets, all with adjustable skill levels to suit everyone. You can even shift between modes during your session if you fancy.

Overall, this is a unique experience located in the centre of Oxford at the top of the Westgate shopping centre. The standout for me was the cocktail menu. I would certainly return to sample more of these. Perhaps my friends and I need a rematch?
If you are around the Broadway Market area on a we If you are around the Broadway Market area on a weekend, then Floris Bakery is worth a stop. This is a 100% gluten free bakery, with dairy free and vegan options 🍰🥐

I have been to Floris before on a Saturday market day, with this being my first time on a Sunday. It was a quieter day for footfall around, making it more peaceful to wander and sit, despite being during the high season in London. Sunday brings a smaller selection of Floris' goods to the market than a Saturday, but there are still plenty of options to choose from.

Both my friend Katie and I opted for the doughnut twists. These were light and fluffy, with a generous sugar coating. This is the same dough base as they use for their filled doughnut options, just on a larger scale portion. I wish I had purchased a 2nd for the next day. The sausage rolls also took my fancy.

Next time that I am around, I am hoping to get my hands on their pistachio doughnut. They look divine! Perhaps I should do a gluten and dairy free London doughnut round up soon. There are a few places to bag some. Who would like to see this? 🍩
Cream Dream: A gluten free & vegan paradise in the Cream Dream: A gluten free & vegan paradise in the heart of London's Covent Garden 🌸💐

You will have seen me post about this place a lot on here before. I have been for their patisserie, savouries, and their afternoon tea 🫖

On my most recent visit, I opted to try some cakes that I had not had before. A couple of items had already caught my eye from their social media, but it is always hard to choose. The array they have on display are always eye capturing.

💚 Pistachio and Almond tart
This is my favourite cake of theirs to date. It screamed pistachio overall, complimented with a stunning white chocolate ring on top. It had a contrast of a smooth interior and "biscuity" base. Perfection. I would recommend this one for the pistachio lovers.

🐚 MoreMargo
This one was so good that my friend and I decided to buy one each. I first saw this posted on their Instagram feed and instantly knew this was a bit of me. Lychee and white chocolate are two things that I could eat all day. I would say that MoreMargo is one of their more filling desserts, with a generous amount of cream filling. It is also decorated with some little berries for colour.

🧁 Madeline
This was actually my friend's pick. I didn't try it on this occasion, but managed to grab a taste of it at one of their afternoon teas. It has a subtle marzipan taste to it, with a thin shell on top and a light "sponge."

Make sure to try their range of drinks, too. This was quite a hot day, so I opted for an iced pink latte, which matched the asthetic of the cafe (although the pink will be changing this month, so watch their page for updates on the new look) 🎀

This patisserie is on the premium side, but it is because they always use quality ingredients and make everything by hand. I think it is a unique spot for us gluten free & vegan/dairy free folk in the Capital ☁️

I am continually working my way through their menu. Who wants to come with me next time? I have the honey cake to try soon 🍰
What do you call a cute doughnut? A-dough-able 🍩 What do you call a cute doughnut? A-dough-able 🍩

That is exactly what these are. Fluffy, gluten free and vegan* fried rings of goodness 🫶

I have visited Hopstop a few times now, buying for both myself and my gluten-eating family (who loved them so much that they forgot to save me one). I remember the "wow" moment that immediately hit me as soon as I tasted these. I couldn't resist buying 4 more after eating the first round. I hadn't even stepped more than 10 metres from the stall by this point.

I opted for one plain and one jam topped doughnut. These are the two current dairy free options. The jam gave a subtle sweetness to it. I loved both options, but the classic sugar coated may have taken the edge for me.

My partner opted for a plain sugar-coated and the chocolate (nutella) topping. His face really lit up with enjoyment whilst eating, which said it all. Hopefully, there will be a dairy free version of the nutella topping day!

I always get excited when I am in the area and can visit again. A box of 4 has started to become my normal purchase. I find these keep well for the next day, too, meaning that I can stock up a little. This is a rare find in a good gluten free doughnut!

You can find these fried doughnuts in London (on specific dates at Brick Lane and Greenwich markets) as well as at some UK food festivals. Make sure to check out Hopstop's page for details.

As well as being delicious treats, the owners are gems. It was lush to meet them in person and have a chat. They are sweet and easy to get on with. This makes the brand even better, in my opinion.

I am already excited for my next visit 🫶

*The base doughnuts are vegan, but some of the toppings do contain dairy. Make sure to ask the stall for advice on this.
Chewy, innovative, gluten-free, and vegan cookies, Chewy, innovative, gluten-free, and vegan cookies, anyone? 🍪

I have simply fallen in love with The After School Cookie Club. I have been a handful of times this year already because I was sold on that first bite. It is about time I shared my thoughts with you all. I had seen great reviews, all the way back from when they were known as Humbledough. I can not believe it took me this long to finally try them. They live up to the hype!

On my one of my recent trips, I leaned on trying all of the vanilla-based types (rather than chocolate cookie bases). These were a range of flavours, including their summer special (yep, there are rotating seasonal options, meaning that there is something new to try each time).

🍋 Strawberry lemonade: a tangy and fruity flavour. This was possibly my top pick overall. It just reminded me of holidays in Italy, with the beautiful lemon and strawberry topping.

🎂 Birthday cake: A beautifully decorated dessert. It has a generous helping of vanilla icing, with sprinkles and a sweet cherry topping.

🥜 Peanut butter: Who does not love a PB and chocolate combo? It is a classic! This has a big dollop of peanut butter on top, swirled with a decadant helping of chocolate. The nutty notes hit throughout.

🍫 Smores: This gives the autumn vibes. Imagine sitting by a campfire and toasting marshmallows. I actually heated this one up at home before consuming it to give it that edge.

This box shows you four of the flavours that I have tried so far. However, I must say that the cookies and cream I recently had was also a solid winner. Perhaps I will have to grab another for a future box review. Both my dad and partner (who both eat gluten and dairy) have also enjoyed the things that I have bought them from here 🫶

Fancy something a little bit extra? Why not grab yourself a soft serve ice cream, cookie sandwich, or a shake as well? 🍦

You can find The After School Cookie Club in various locations across London. I have managed to visit their Shoreditch and Mayfair branches so far. Have you been? 🫶
Where can you get flaky, laminated, gluten free an Where can you get flaky, laminated, gluten free and dairy free pastries in the UK? Libby's is your answer 🥐

I first discovered Libby's a few years back when they opened their first shop in London. Despite not living in the city, I still find myself going back to grab their goods on plenty of occasions. Their croissants and pain au chocolat are some of my top picks for breakfast.

As well as eat in and takeaway, they also offer some of their baked goods for nationwide postal delivery. I had been struggling to get my hands on their new almond croissants and praline pain au chocolat, as they are very popular, so I knew that I had to try my luck with an online order. I also added in a pack of plain croissants, which pair perfectly with pistachio spread.

The praline pain au chocolat was my favourite overall. Even my gluten and dairy eating partner commented how good these were (yes, I do share sometimes). This had a topping of crunchy hazelnuts, as well as a generous helping of hazelnut praline cream inside and chocolate batons. There is something so special about this when it is slightly toasted.

The almond croissants had toasted flaked almonds on top with an almond cream spread in the middle. Perfect for those who adore the extra marzipan-style sweetness.

Now I am curious.. which one would you go for? 🍫🌰

These are all suitable for freezing, if you can make them last that long. Mine definitely didn't. I finished the whole order in a flash ✨️

Have you heard that Lula's have now opened a cafe in Oxford's covered market? I have been eagerly anticipating my chance to visit. I am a huge fan of their main restaurant near the train station, and I had already heard good things from friends about this branch, too.

The cafe looks very elegant and modern, with tables that seat around 2-4 people. It is designed as a "quick eats" menu that is inclusive for many dietary requirements. You will find many of their popular dishes on the menu. I feel this is perfect for a lunchtime pick or brief evening stop (on the market's late night openings from Thursday through Saturday).

For the food, you can choose from a range of plant-based, gluten free Ethiopian favourites to top either rice or traditional injera. The toppings include items such as lentils, beetroot, and mushrooms. For my plate, I opted for the injera with mushrooms and yellow split lentils. I thoroughly enjoy the slightly sour tang from the injera whilst mopping up the sauces. The yellow lentils were mild and creamy, with the softened mushrooms having a slight kick.

On the side, I couldn't resist trying some mixed salads. These were also heart healthy, packed with beans and pulses. The portions were generous, too!

To finish, I opted for a vegan and gluten free trillionares tart. This was decedant and moreish. I can certainly say I did not leave with an empty stomach. Both my belly and my heart were full after this experience.

Before my friend and I even finished our lunch, we were already chatting about our return. I am so pleased that this may be accessible for me as a regular lunchtime takeaway, as it is only a short walk from my work. I will be bringing the rest of the group along, too. It is always a pleasure to visit Lula's 🫶

No 5 Angel Hill, Bury St. Edmunds 📍 If you are lo No 5 Angel Hill, Bury St. Edmunds 📍

If you are looking for an allergy friendly, family-run small business, then make sure to check out this establishment out. This place has been on my bucket list for a while now, specialising in brunch, and lunch. I have been meaning to stop by every time I am in Bury St. Edmunds, as it is a cute little cafe that is always bustling with customers. Do not let the queues put you off, though. It is worth the wait, and it moves relatively fast. I just wish I hadn't taken so long to finally visit.

They can make most of the breakfast items gluten free, with some also available as dairy free. They have separate preparation areas and are clued up on cross contact and coeliac disease. They even use white wine vinegar as standard so that we can eat the poached eggs. It was a huge plus for me, as this is my egg style of choice.

I opted for the bacon and avocado on toast, with a runny egg on top. When this came out, my jaw dropped. The avocado was stunningly fresh and green, with a soft melt in the mouth feel. I couldn't believe that they used three pieces of back bacon on this dish. I was truly spoiled. They were cooked to perfection, too. Very succulent and flavoursome. The eggs, though, we're the highlight. A generous portion of two that had orange yolks that trickled down the dish. Just look at those pops.

I couldn't help myself but buy two drinks, too. I had a Cox apple juice and a strawberry iced matcha with almond milk. The matcha was very creamy and had a balanced taste of strawberry throughout 🍓

I am often in the area and can see myself making this my new "go to" spot. Any excuse to work my way through the menu, right?
Sticks 'n' Sushi 🥢 The past weekend bought me for Sticks 'n' Sushi 🥢

The past weekend bought me for dinner out with the girls. We fancied something a little special that also had good drinks, so we settled on a trip to Sticks 'n' Sushi. This is a fusion restaurant of Japanese cuisine with flavours from Denmark. Can you tell I am missing Japan a little? 🇩🇰🇯🇵

This place has a calm ambience, with service to match. All of our waiters were impeccable and were very helpful with my dietary requirements. They checked every dish and even swapped out a further item on the gluten free menu due to potential cross contact in the fryer.

I fancied a bit of a mix and something new that I haven't tried here before. I ended up ordering the "Come for a Swim" set. This came with:
🥩 Beef Tataki
🥦 Grilled broccoli (swapped from the cauliflower)
🍚 Rice Paper Shake
🐠 Hiramasa Kataifi
🍣 Shake Tataki
🐟 Tuna Tartare

Every dish in the set just blew me away. When I say that even the broccoli was some of the best I have had, I am not exaggerating. I was sceptical at first about this one but was truly taken aback with the flavour of the vegetable and sauce. The fish and meat dishes were fresh, with the perfect sauces to match. Quite a lot of the flavours were umami overall (3/6 dishes). I really do enjoy a generous helping of soy sauce, so this was up my street.

This platter was quite fish heavy, so next time, I think I will switch it up again. Either adding in some extra "sticks" or through trying another set choice. Saying this, I was eyeing up the mini maki maki on another table 🍣

My meal, drink, and tip came to around £65, which is more on the premium side for me. However, I feel the quality and service were worth every penny for a nice occasion out with friends. I already can't wait to go again. There are various locations for this around the UK, but I ventured to the Oxford branch on this occasion. It is always a fantastic dinner out here, and somewhere that will always be top of my list for sushi and cocktails 🍸

100% gluten free 🌾
Dairy free options 🌱

Those who know me will know that I adore the treats from The Authentic Kitchen and have done since they started. I have always had a soft spot for a cookie pie, so I am always buying from these guys (as they offer a gluten and dairy free combined option, which is a rare find) 💫

AUGUST BOX:
🍊 Jaffa cake cookie pie
A beautiful blend of chocolate and orange. This one won me over (despite not usually opting for this flavour combo). The smoothness of the chocolate with the fresh fruit flavour was a winner.

🔥 White chocolate smores cookie
I am so glad that Rachel created this one. I have always been fond of white chocolate, and the combination with the marshmallow is divine. Heated up briefly, it is next level.

🌰 Kinderella cookie pie
My favourite pick! It reminded me of Kinder Bueno. Every mouthful was stunning. I would buy this every month.

🍫 Triple chocolate cookie
A classic. Who doesn't love a triple chocolate cookie? This is a chunky option, with a chocolate base and added buttons.

For your chance to win the August selection box:
1) Follow myself and @theauthentickitchenuk
2) Tag a friend* and comment which item in the box you are most excited for
3) Share this post for an extra chance to win

I will be running this competition on both Instagram and Facebook (one winner overall). For an extra chance to win, you can enter on both platforms.

T&Cs:
This competition is not affiliated with Facebook/Instagram. Only one winner will be chosen across both platforms (UK only). Entries close at midnight on 25th August. I will announce and contact the winner after this time. Good luck 🤞

*For those who cannot eat nuts, the Kinderella cookie pie can be swapped out. However, do remember that the bakery environment is not 100% nut free, so there may be traces.
